Walls that are too thick or too thin are both unfavorable, so wall thickness should be designed reasonably to ensure that die casting quality is not affected by wall thickness issues. Taking aluminum alloy die castings as an example, under normal conditions, thin-walled die castings have higher strength and better density than thick-walled ones. Therefore, in die casting design, the following principle should be followed: while ensuring sufficient strength and rigidity of the casting, wall thickness should be minimized and kept uniform. Practice has proven that die casting wall thickness is generally suitable at 2.5-4mm, and parts with wall thickness exceeding 6mm are not suitable for die casting production. The effects of too thick or too thin walls on casting quality: If the wall is too thin in design, metal fusion will be poor, directly affecting casting strength and causing molding difficulties; if too thick or severely uneven, shrinkage cavities and cracks are likely to occur. On the other hand, as wall thickness increases, internal defects such as blowholes and shrinkage porosity also increase, reducing casting strength and affecting casting quality.
