Metal equipment, after prolonged use, may develop rust and scale. Corrosion and scale inhibitors can not only effectively remove them but also prevent re-rusting. What applications do they have in casting?

1. By selecting pure carbon-containing graphitized materials, it reduces excessive impurities in pig iron, thereby lowering casting production costs. When corrosion and scale inhibitors are used in casting, the amount of scrap steel can be significantly increased while reducing or eliminating the use of pig iron.

2. The corrosion and scale inhibitor should be charged together with scrap steel and other furnace materials. Small-dosage additions can be applied to the surface of the molten iron. However, avoid adding large quantities to the molten iron at once, to prevent excessive oxidation that would result in inconspicuous carbon addition effects and insufficient carbon content in the castings. The addition amount of the inhibitor is determined based on the ratio and carbon content of other raw materials.

Corrosion and scale inhibitors enable the reuse of castings, reducing costs and improving quality. However, when adding the reagent, pay attention to the proper ratio and dosage to maximize the reagent’s effectiveness.

Scale inhibitor, as the name suggests, is a reagent that prevents the formation of scale and is widely used in water treatment.
